JL Audio M700/5 3/4/5 Channel Amplifier
Amazingly small in size, but huge in audio performance, the JL Audio XD amplifiers are the perfect solution for space-conscious installations or for anyone seeking affordable excellence in a mobile amplifier. JL Audio's exclusive NexD switching technology achieves total amplifier efficiencies exceeding 80%, which means far less heat and less strain on your vehicle's electrical system than a conventional large amplifier. This efficiency advantage, combined with state-of-the-art microelectronic components allows us to use very compact unitary cast alloy heat sinks. As with their more expensive HD siblings, XD's also deploy our Advanced Thermal Rollback System to completely eliminate annoying thermal shut-down events Beneath every XD's removable control cover, you will find studio-grade signal processing with fully variable crossover filters. Also included are our noise-killing, highly flexible differential-balanced inputs with remote level control capabilities via the HD-RLC remote level control (optional). Some might just see a small amplifier... But, for those who appreciate great audio, XD's reveal something huge.
NexD Class D Technology
NexD is a state-of-the-art switching amplifier design that combines exceptional audio quality with excellent efficiency and less complexity than our flagship HD amplifiers' Single-Cycle Control technology. This results in affordable compact amplification with world-class audio quality.
Advanced Rollback Protection
Should any XD-Series amplifier ever overheat, its intelligent, unregulated power supply reacts by limiting available peak voltage until the amplifier returns to a safe temperature range. Likewise, if an impedance lower than optimal for the amplifier is present at the outputs, the XD amplifier will roll back peak voltage to protect itself without shutting down.
Active Crossover Features
The active crossover sections of the XD amplifiers offer excellent flexibility and precise control.
Preamp Outputs
All XD-Series amplifiers, except the XD600/6, feature preamp outputs that make connecting multiple amplifiers simple. The preamp pass-through outputs are configured in parallel with the amp inputs. The signal present at these outputs is identical to the signal at the amp inputs and is unaffected by any on-board processing.
Remote Level Control (HD-RLC)
Requires HD-RLC controller (sold separately). This is a true level control, not a "bass boost", and can be used as a subwoofer level control or as a full-range volume control, if desired. Assignable channels on XD400/4 (control 2 or 4 channels) and XD600/6 (control 2, 4 or all channels). Multiple amplifiers can be controlled with one controller by adding standard phone cable splitter (not included). Please note that the RBC-1 controller will NOT work with XD amplifiers... you must use the HD-RLC controller.
Differential-Balanced Inputs
Unlike conventional single-ended inputs, the differential-balanced design does not connect one side of the audio signal to chassis ground. This eliminates any voltage sensitivity between one input terminal and ground and greatly reduces the incidence of alternator whine in a typical car audio installation.
