Alpine INE-S920HD - 6.1" In-Dash Navigation Receiver
Alpine’s new AVN lineup is the INE-S920HD 6.1-inch AVN system. Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. is expanding its audio-video-navigation (AVN) system lineup with the introduction of the largest AVN system for the automobile aftermarket. The system debuted at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Jan. 10 -13, 2012 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Artist name, song name and album art can be displayed on the INE-Z928HD or INE-S920HD’s screens if this information is available from the audio source. Advanced Passenger Control Mode is also available on both models, allowing passengers to stream audio from any smartphone for playback though the vehicle’s sound system.
Installation Note from Alpine: When you first turn on your INE-S920HD select MAP and complete the setup that prompts for language selection, distance, weight, economy setup. This will allow for a normal boot-up time.
HD Radio Technology
Both models feature a built-in HD Radio receiver for crystal clear digital sound. New and exclusive to Alpine is Smart Reception Management for HD Radio, which includes the Digital MC setting. This setting allows for hybrid digital/analog listening on the main HD Radio channel, along with digital signal on the HD Radio multicast channel. This avoids back and forth bouncing between the main HD Radio channel and the multicast channel. Alpine’s MediaXpander technology also provides enhanced sound quality to HD Radio channels by adding back missing harmonics in compressed media.
Pandora Internet Radio
The INE-S920HD can control Pandora from Android, BlackBerry and iPhone smartphones. Users can create new Pandora stations, rate songs with the thumbs up or down rating system, and bookmark songs for later purchase from the touch-screens of these two AVN systems.
SiriusXM Satellite Radio
The INE-S920HD is compatible with SiriusXM’s vast programming, using the SXV200 Vehicle Connect Tuner (tuner sold separately, XM subscription required).
Video and Navigation Features
The INE-Z928HD and INE-S920HD have full VGA high-resolution screens for crisp, detailed picture quality. The INE-Z928HD features a motorized screen which slides down to reveal a DVD slot. 2012 marks the debut of a new 3D navigation platform for Alpine’s AVN systems. The 3D view depicts major landmarks, buildings and terrain details. Lane guidance with text-to speech announcements, and a highway services list which shows the services available at each exit (gas, food, ATMs, etc.) help drivers make quick decisions during their routes. Another new navigation feature is the freeform search function. This allows users to type in the first few letters of the desired destination using the formal name (ex: Alpine) or a category (ex: electronics company), and all relevant search results will be delivered.
Bluetooth Wireless Technology Features
Both AVN systems have advanced Bluetooth wireless technology. Ease-of use features include secure simple pairing (SSP); phone battery, cellular signal level and received message icons; as well as call waiting. Sound quality features include digital sound processor (DSP) expansion for better streaming quality; MediaXpander technology for enhanced phone call sound quality; and a microphone that can be separately mounted for custom placement in the vehicle.
